BPAN To Award Scholarship Fund To Best Boxers At NYG2024

Date:

Lagos, Nigeria – October 27, 2023 – The Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria (BPAN) is thrilled to announce the presentation of a scholarship fund to recognize outstanding young boxing talent from the recently concluded National Youth Games in Asaba. In partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission, BPAN will award a scholarship of 250,000 Naira each to the Best Female Boxer and Best Male Boxer from the competition, as part of its commitment to supporting young athletes’ educational and career pursuits.

This scholarship presentation will take place during the closing ceremony of the inaugural Lagos State Individual Boxing Club Championship, which is being held at Bishop Aggey Senior Secondary School in Mushin, Lagos, from October 21 to 27. The BPAN President and Vice President will personally present the awards on October 27, offering these talented athletes meaningful support as they pursue their academic, sporting, or vocational ambitions.

The award for Best Female Boxer will go to Agboola Oyindamola of Lagos State, who delivered an impressive performance in the 40kg female category, defeating Borno State’s Ademodi Maria with a 5-0 unanimous decision. Bolarinwa Michael, also from Lagos State, will receive the award for Best Male Boxer, after an exceptional bout against Abia State’s Adenle Farouk, a fiercely contested match that underscored his skill and dedication to the sport.

This initiative by BPAN aligns with its mission to nurture and encourage promising boxing talents across Nigeria, providing them with resources to advance in their chosen fields, whether academic, sporting, or vocational. BPAN recognizes that these young athletes represent the future of Nigerian boxing, and by investing in their development, the organization is ensuring that Nigerian boxing continues to thrive.

Agboola Oyindamola and Bolarinwa Michael have shown exemplary discipline, skill, and resilience in the ring, and BPAN is proud to support their future endeavors. The organization is excited to play a role in their journeys, offering encouragement to not only these winners but all young boxers in Nigeria who aspire to reach their fullest potential.
