Ednaldo Rodrigues, President of the Brazilian FA, has confirmed Carlo Ancelotti will be appointed by the Seleçao in 2024, at the end of his contract with Real Madrid.
Rodrigues spoke at a press conference on Tuesday to unveil Brazil’s new coach, Fernando Diniz.
However, as reported by CNN Brazil, the President of the Brazilian FA added that the new coach would only remain in charge for one year and be replaced by Ancelotti in 2024.
“He [Diniz] is a coach whose football is really similar to that of the coach that will take over after the Copa América, Ancelotti,” said Rodrigues.
“He has almost the same type of playing style.”
Ancelotti’s Real Madrid contract expires in June 2024. The Brazilian federation hasn’t yet confirmed his appointment through an official statement and neither Real Madrid have confirmed the departure of the Italian tactician at the end of the season.
Diniz is the current coach of Fluminense and won’t leave the club during his time as Brazil’s national team coach.
Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid in 2021 and has won the Champions League twice with the La Liga giants.
He is the coach with the most victories in Europe’s elite competition, having lifted the trophy four times, two with the Merengues and two with Milan, in 2003 and 2007.
