BREAKING: NFF appoints German Bruno Labbadia new Super Eagles coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, effective immediately. 

Secretary General of the NFF, Mohammed Sanusi, announced the appointment in an early morning tweet on Tuesday via the NFF’s X handle. 

The statement reads: “The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Super Eagles.

“The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development sub-committee to appoint Mr Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.”

Labbadia becomes the 37th Head Coach of the Super Eagles after the resignation of Finidi George.

With this appointment, Labbadia will lead the Super Eagles in their upcoming matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Nigerian team is set to play a home game against Benin Republic on September 7 at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, followed by an away match against Rwanda three days later.


The Super Eagles camp is expected to open on September 1 in Uyo.
