The bizarre story surrounding Paul Pogba and the extortion attempt by his brother Mathias continues to grow legs, with the latest revelation also implicating Pogba’s French teammate Kylian Mbappé.
News broke during the summer that Pogba was at the centre of an extortion attempt, with his brother Mathias involved in the group extorting the former Manchester United man.
Mathias Pogba was recently arrested, as a central player in the reported €11 million extortion attempt.
One of the allegations levelled against World Cup winner Paul Pogba is that he employed the services of a witch doctor to bring good fortune on the pitch.
In a series of bizarre videos shared this week (which were presumably pre-recorded, given he is under police custody), Mathias Pogba has claimed that Paul placed a curse on PSG man Kylian Mbappé ahead of United’s 2019 Champions League clash with PSG.
Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé were teammates for France’s 2018 World Cup triumph, with both men scoring in the 4-2 win in the final against Croatia.
The latest claims from Mathias Pogba allege that Paul began to trust a witch doctor during that 2018 World Cup triumph, and paid large sums to said witch doctor to ensure success on the pitch.
Mathias claims that Pogba went so far as to “neutralise” his French teammate Mbappé ahead of a 2019 Champions League game between Pogba’s Manchester United and Mbappé’s PSG. Mathias says:
At the request of Paul, the witch was told to neutralise Kylian Mbappé, who back then was on a rapid rise, far outstripping Paul’s fame. It was strange to see that during that match Kylian was a shadow of himself against a reserve side.
The issue is that at the same time Paul was doing everything he could to get closer to Kylian, as we could see in the media, supposedly liking him and calling him his friend he would often call him, we would see them arm in arm.
It went so far that Kylian almost made it a condition for his PSG contract extension that the club would have to sign Paul, without knowing that behind his back Paul was engaging in witchcraft to sabotage his matches.
A reel of clips from that 2019 game went viral on Twitter on Friday, showing an out-of-sorts Mbappé. He repeatedly struggled to control the ball, and missed a crucial chance in the second half with the game on a knife edge.
United would go on to take a surprise 3-1 win despite missing the injured Pogba, and would progress to the quarter finals on away goals after a last minute penalty from Marcus Rashford.
