Bundesliga: Boniface undergoes successful surgery

Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen have announced Victor Boniface has undergone successful surgery.

Boniface sustained a groin injury in training during Nigeria’s preparations for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

“Victor #Boniface was successfully operated on today in Berlin,” reads a statement on the club’s X handle.

“The striker will return to Leverkusen later this week to start his rehabilitation process.”

The 23-year-old has been replaced in Nigeria’s squad for AFCON 2023 by OGC Nice of France star, Terem Moffi.

He is expected to be sidelined until April 2024.
