Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma has shared his thoughts on his team’s impressive outing against ASEC Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire.
The Nigeria Premier Football League champions thrashed the Ivorians 3-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup Group B matchday two encounter at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.
Malachi Ohawume, Ukeme Williams and Dennis Ndasi were on target for the Pride of Rivers in the game.
It was a remarkable turnaround for the hosts, who lost 3-0 to Congo’s Diables Noirs on matchday one.
Eguma was magnanimous despite his side’s victory as he had kind words for the visitors.
“It was a good game and I commend our opponents, they did well. ASEC is a big team, they are former African champions and being in the same group meant we have a strong opponent,” Eguma told reporters after the game.
“After what happened in Congo, we fashioned another strategy to be able to nick a victory today.”
