CAF WCL: Heartbreak for Bayelsa Queens

Bayelsa Queens suffered a semi-final heartbreak in the CAF Women’s Champions League on Wednesday.`

The Nigerian champions lost narrowly to AS FAR Rabat 1-0 at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat.

Domo Okara and his girls made history as the first Nigerian team to reach the last four of the Champions League an in their first appearance.

The team lost the opening game to holders, Mamelodi Sundowns, but got bounce back wins against TP Mazembe and Wadi Degla in the group stages.

On matchday, a solitary Ibtissam Jraidi goal in the first half (27′) settled the encounter, ushering the Moroccan team into their first ever WCL final.

However, Bayelsa Queens have a second shot at getting a podium finish when they go head to head against Simba Queens in the third place playoff on November 12, at the Stade Moulay Hassan.
