It was a poor outing for the Nigeria champions Rivers United in the first leg of the quarter final of CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday played at the Goodswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Despite playing at home, the Pride of Rivers felt uncomfortable on the ball during the game and allowed the Tanzania side to seize control of the game.
Congolese striker Fiston Mayele posed a constant threat to the backline of the host throughout the entire first half of the game.
With the host not coming out enough to play, Young Africans continue their domination in the game and their effort finally paid off with Mayele netting the opening goal in the 74th minute.
He completed his brace almost immediately to make 0-2 in favour of his team to the surprise of the fans of supporters of Rivers United.
Despite all the efforts of Rivers United to get back into the game proved abortive as the game ended 0-2.
The second leg will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium next weekend with Rivers United hoping to turn the table. The overall winners in the two legged matches will progress to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament.
