Bruno Fernandes has returned to training after testing positive for COVID-19, in what is a big boost for Manchester United ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
The Portuguese midfielder missed Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham in the Premier League and was a doubt to play against Atletico.
But Fernandes has now returned a negative test and reported to training at Carrington on Monday.
It remains to be seen if Fernandes will come straight back into the starting XI.
United performed excellently without him against Spurs as Cristiano Ronaldo netted a superb hat-trick.
Speaking after the game, interim boss Ralf Rangnick confirmed that Fernandes was facing a “last-minute race” to make the Atletico match.
