Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier has said that he does not believe his team are the favorites to win the Champions League this season.
Galtier also said that eight or nine teams could win the Champions League this season.
PSG will open their Champions League campaign with a home game against Juventus on Tuesday.
The Parisians have been drawn alongside Juventus, Benfica and Maccabi Haifa in Group H of the tournament.
Galtier’s men are expected to have enough power to finish in the top two of the group and even make it into the knockout stages.
Some have even suggested that PSG could go on to lift the Champions League trophy this term.
However, Galtier has now played down PSG’s chances of winning the Champions League, insisting that there are many teams that have a realistic chance of winning the Europe top-flight competition this time around.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of PSG’s Champions League tie with Juventus on Tuesday night, Galtier was quoted as saying the following (via PSGTalk): “That would be reductive compared to our competitors. Every year, there are eight or nine teams that believe they can win it, and finally, there are favorites that don’t go all the way, surprises, incredible scenarios.
“That the club has the ambition to win it is legitimate, but I don’t think we are favorites.”
