Chelsea sign Jamaica international Omari Hutchinson

Date:

Chelsea have brought in 18-year-old forward Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal.

Hutchinson began his youth career with the Blues, but was scouted by Charlton in 2012 and later joined Arsenal U12s after a brief break to play futsal.

As a 12-year-old, he received praise from Pele after taking part in a South London tournament organised by the Brazil legend.

Hutchinson will now return to Stamford Bridge after failing to make it past the bench in a year-and-a-half as a professional at the Emirates.

UEFA’s Head of Women’s Football, Nadine Kessler, says the Women’s Euros is having a huge impact on the sport.

He did impress in the Premier League 2 last season, playing an important role in an Arsenal side that finished third.

The teenage starlet has also begun to make an impact on the international scene. He made his debut for Jamaica earlier this season after playing for England at representative levels.

On signing Hutchinson, Head of youth recruitment Jim Fraser told the club: ‘We are delighted that Omari has agreed to sign for Chelsea.

‘He is a brilliant addition who joins us as an exciting emerging talent hoping to make a quick impression in the senior game.’ His contract length and transfer fee are not currently known.
