Chelsea are hopeful of signing Everton winger Anthony Gordon this week and are also in talks with AC Milan for Rafael Leao, according to reports.
Chelsea have had multiple offers for Gordon rejected by Everton, who are demanding at least £50 million for the 21-year-old.
Tottenham and Newcastle United are also interested in Gordon but according to The Times, Chelsea are now ‘confident’ that an agreement with Everton can be reached this week.
The report claims that Thomas Tuchel has ‘earmarked’ Gordon as a player who would improve his attacking options.
Speaking last week, Frank Lampard admitted that Everton may decide to sell Gordon to Chelsea before the window closes.
‘It has to be a joined-up say so,’ said Lampard.
‘When you’re talking about the level of player Anthony is and the value of the player, we know what those kind of players go for in the modern day if there was ever to be these sort of transfers.
‘It’s a serious situation on a football level and a club business level, simple as that. If you can join those two up and make the right decision, I will always consider the football one the most important because that is what my job will be judged on. Anthony Gordon is a fantastic player for us and that is why my answer is what it is.’
It’s also reported that Chelsea have begun discussions with AC Milan for Leao, who was their joint-top goalscorer alongside Olivier Giroud in Serie A last season.
Leao is also said to be keen on the idea of moving to the Premier League.
However, reports in Italy claim that AC Milan are demanding that the Portugal international’s €150 million (£126.6m) release clause is triggered.
Chelsea are also on the verge of selling Emerson Palmieri to West Ham in a deal worth £13m plus £2m in add-ons.
Marcos Alonso is still pushing to join Barcelona but the Spanish club have identified Celta Vigo’s Javi Galan as a potential alternative to the Chelsea left-back.
