Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, continued their preparations for the final round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with a commanding 11-0 victory over Royaltoms Queens in a friendly match at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.

The Flamingos produced a ruthless attacking display, underlining their readiness for the crucial qualifying fixtures ahead and extending their impressive run in warm-up matches.

Queen Joseph opened the scoring in the third minute before Kindness Ifeanyi doubled the advantage two minutes later. Mary Dunstan added a third in the 26th minute and Tobiloba Sarafa made it 4-0 six minutes before halftime.

Ifeanyi grabbed her second of the match in the 50th minute after the break. Harmony Chidi then claimed the spotlight with a hat-trick, scoring in the 63rd, 69th and 84th minutes, either side of goals from Destiny Itobore and Precious Oscar in the 65th and 66th minutes respectively. Koasarat Olanrewaju completed the rout in the 86th minute.

The result follows a 3-0 win over DreamStar Ladies in another warm-up match in Ikenne last weekend, giving the Akeem Busari-coached side 14 goals scored and none conceded across their last two preparatory fixtures.

The Flamingos now turn their attention to the first leg of their final-round qualifier against Benin Republic, scheduled for July 4 in Ikenne, with a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup at stake.
