Chief Sunday Dare Graces 4th Sportsville Awards Ceremony, Says Sports Development is a Collective Responsibility

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare, exemplified resilience and dedication as he attended the 4th Sportsville Special Recognition Awards, held at the prestigious Eko Club in Surulere, Lagos, on Friday.

Despite facing personal loss on the same day, Chief Sunday Dare graciously accepted the invitation and attended the event, expressing his gratitude for the recognition.

“I am excited to be part of this award. Sportsville has been one of the most credible and objective sports programs on air.”

Dare was a recipient of the award’s esteem honour in previous years, and continues to remain a positive influence to Nigerian sports.

Eulogizing Dare’s remarkable contributions to sports development, President of Nigeria Cricket Federation, Dr. Uyi Akpata, one of the recipients of this year’s Sportsville Special Recognition Awards, acknowledged Dare’s pivotal role in advancing cricket in Nigeria. He emphasized that as minister, Dare provided the platform for cricket to thrive, leaving a lasting impact on the sport.

Echoing Dr. Akpata’s sentiments, Former Director General National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Runsewe, emphasized that Sunday Dare’s name will be etched in the sands of time for his constant dedication to sports development in Nigeria.

Dare emphasized that sports development is a collective responsibility. He underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, including government, sports federations, corporate organizations, and individuals, in fostering the growth and sustainability of sports in Nigeria.
