Chukwueze Closer To €63 Nigerian Transfer Record

Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze appears moving closer to a new Nigerian transfer record of €63, which is the figure his club have placed on him to ward off suitors in the summer window.

However, while Thew Yellow Submarine believe clubs would be scared off making any any bid for Chukwueze because of the hefty release clause in his contract, the lad’s stunning form during his debut season in La Liga and surge into the mainframe of Nigeria’s national team has made his exit in the summer transfer window very impending.

Should that happen, ‘Samu’ would become Nigeria’s costliest transfer ever, ahead of Kelechi Iheanacho, who joined Leicester City of England from EPL champions, Manchester City for €27.8m, followed by Odion Jude Ighalo’s €23m move from Watford to Changchun Yatai of China.

A report by indicates that Chukwueze, who is on the radar of Liverpool and several clubs across Europe, could move for €63m, as Villarreal are not ready to lower their valuation of the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and third top goals scorer.

Chukwueze would then become not only the most expensive player to star for the Super Eagles, but equally the costliest transfer ever over all for a player of Nigerian descent, which is currently held by former Togo international, Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor, who joined Manchester City from Arsenal for €29m in July 2009.

The 20-year-old Chukwueze would also become the most expensive star to be transferred from Villarreal, surpassing €40m Manchester United paid The Yellow Submarine for Eric Bailly in 2016.
