Chukwueze, Osimhen, Kalu Scare Roberto Carlos

Brazilian soccer legend, Roberto Carlos has raised alarm over the youthfulness and exuberance of Nigeria’s trio of Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu, who he believes could be an huge threat to The Samba Boys in this month’s international friendly in Singapore, as they all started the Super Eagles’ last match away to Ukraine in September.

Casting a look ahead of the October 13 game between The Samba Boys and Eagles at Singapore National Stadium, the iconic former Real Madrid left-back noted that Chukwueze, Osimhen and Kalu possess immense strength, skills and speed that could wreak havoc on Brazil, hence his charge to his compatriots to take the opposition very seriously.

Carlos, who is remembered for a curling ‘banana’ free-kick he once hit home for Brazil during a friendly against France, added that Osimhen, Chukwueze and Kalu are among the fast-growing array of young players currently making waves in Europe, such that they would be expected to put pressure on his country’s team’s defense next month in Singapore.

Incidentally, Osimhen, Kalu and Chukwueze pit up a great show for the Eagles in Ukraine, which was the three-time African champions’ last international friendly, as they were all on top of their game, with spirited running, deft touches and incisive passes in the 2-2 draw at Dnipro-Arena.

That match formed the basis for Carlos’ analysis and preview for Brazil’s upcoming clash with the Eagles, as the once-acclaimed best left-back in the world pointed out that it will be another day of youthful zeal and exertions from the Nigerian lads when they tango his country on October 13.

Carlos posited: “The three forward players (Osimhen, Kalu and Chukwueze) move real quick with strength and skills. Defenders don’t like playing against them but when you’re faced with them you just have to cope. I think that’s the strength of the Nigerian team.”
