Enugu State commissioner for sports, Chief Josef Udedi has declared that the son of former Eagles captain and coach, Christian Chukwu got a job on merit from the state government, adding that the decision to give him employment was not because of sentiments for his father.
Udedi pointed out that Chukwu’s son, Emeka, is an Engineering graduate from a renowned institution, which makes him qualified for the job and he deserves automatic employment by Enugu State government.
The commissioner made the announcement after a closed-door meeting he had on behalf of the state governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, with the family of Chukwu, during a courtesy visit to the football legend.
He admitted that Governor Ugwuanyi ordered immediate and automatic employment to Chukwu’s first son, but stressed that the directive was a lot easier to carry out because of Emeka Chukwu’s qualifications.
An appreciative ‘Chairman’ Chukwu said his health continues to improve by the day, and stated profound appreciation that Governor Ugwuanyi is ensuring he gets the best treatment to enable him bounce back better.
Flanked by his wife and sister, ‘CC’ discussed with relative ease, much to the delight of former governor of old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo, who said: “I think he is much better than I thought.
“I discussed with him very intelligently and he is getting better. This was capped by his doctor, who confirmed he has improved. So, I am happy.”
