Confederation Cup Playoffs: Enyimba Hit Al Ittihad In Aba

Enyimba International inched towards qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage by beating Al Ittihad of Libya 2-0 in the 2nd leg of the playoff round tie in Aba on Sunday.

The first leg in Tunisia, the adopted home ground of the Libyan club, was put on hold the Confederation of Africa Football because Enyimba were unable to honour the fixture no thanks to Covid restrictions.

Megasportsarena reports that the Nigerian side started the match fiercely, looking for an early opening, the pressure paid off midway into the first half as Sadiq Abubakar headed home Yakubu Bilal’s cross in the 21st minute.

The Peoples’ Elephants were relentless in their dominance and it yielded results when Victor Mbaoma netted the second goal in the 34th minute.

Al Ittihad ended the game with ten men after seeing one of their players sent off deep into the second half injury time.

The return leg date will be confirmed later by CAF.
