Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has stated that the Sky Blue Stars are fully prepared to handle the unique challenges posed by AS FAR of Morocco in the return leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie, scheduled for this weekend in Rabat.
Following their 2-1 victory over AS FAR in the first leg, which marked their first win in the competition, Ogunmodede has briefed his players on what to expect as they travel to Rabat for the second leg.
“We are expecting a lot of hostilities that they are used to intimidate us on and off the pitch. We are also ready for their antics and we’ll prepared for it,” Ogunmodede said after narrow win at home on Sunday. “We’ll improve on our attack and finishing because we are not going to sit back. “We are going to defend when we need to and attack when we need to.”
The Nigerian representative must avoid a defeat in Rabat to have a chance of progressing to the next round.
Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors’ Technical Adviser, Aliyu Zubairu admitted that his side struggled to convert their chances in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup tie against Dadje of Benin Republic.
The former Gombe United coach however remained confident that the Borno Armies would overturn the result in the return leg in Cotonou.
“The boys weren’t calm enough in front of goal, but I have full faith in their ability to deliver in the second leg,” Zubairu stated. “We will go to Benin Republic and secure a decisive victory, God willing.”
Zubairu urged El Kanemi Warriors fans to remain patient and optimistic.
“If we can draw here, there’s no reason why we can’t win on their turf,” he said. “I know our supporters expected more from us today, but rest assured, we will turn the tide in the next game by God’s grace.”
