Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has singled out Valentin Carboni as one of Argentina’s future stars, praising the young midfielder’s “barbaric quality.”
Carboni, who made his senior debut for Argentina in a 3-1 win against Costa Rica in March, earned his first start for the national team on Friday against Guatemala.
The 19-year-old impressed as a standout performer on the right wing.
Carboni joined Inter in 2020 and recently completed a loan spell at Serie A club Monza.

He is now vying for a spot in Argentina’s final Copa America squad, with the reigning World Cup champions set to open their Group A campaign against Canada on June 21.
“He [Carboni] has a great future, present and future, we must take advantage of it as well as many boys who come with great strength,” Messi told TyC Sports.
“Since we arrived in the United States that he has been training with us, we had seen him in the Under-20s but he grew a lot – he is a different player, much more trained and with barbaric quality.”
