Falconets ace Flourish Chioma Sabastine has expressed sadness over the team’s quarterfinal exit at the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s world Cup in Costa Rica. The Christopher Danjuma tutored side she said gave their all with intent to making it all the way but unfortunately failed to realise the dream.

She revealed it has been tough catching a good night sleep since the ouster but took solace in the fact that wearing the national colour was a thing of pride. She nonetheless thanked Nigerians who cheered the team while the effort lasted.

“It was such pain to watch our dream of winning the trophy die. I’ve barely slept and don’t know when I can overcome this pain

Only consolation is that we held nothing back. We wore the jersey 🇳🇬 with pride and gave 100% all the time

For the support, thank you” she said

Falconets began the group stage with a flourish beating France, Korea and Canada before losing to Netherlands to book their exit.

In continuation of the championship Netherlands will take on Spain tomorrow in one of the semifinal clashes with Brazil having a score to settle with Japan on Friday.

The third place match will take the centre stage on Sunday while the final will be decided on Monday August 29th. Both Falconets and flamingoes qualified for World Cup holding in Costa Rica and India respectively.

The Flamingoes have been drawn in Group B against Germany, Chile and New Zealand even as uncertainties continues to trail the Indian event following FIFA ban of the country’s football association over undue interference.
