Marc Cucurella has already admitted he would be keen to move on from Brighton should the right offer present itself.
The defender has emerged as a leading target for Chelsea as they bid to strengthen at left wing-back, with the club prepared to offer Levi Colwill in part-exchange to get a deal over the line amid talks over a transfer.
Manchester City had been keen to sign the 24-year-old after his impressive first season in the Premier League, although baulked at Brighton’s £50m demands.
Chelsea have retained an interest in the Spaniard since his loan spell at Getafe from Barcelona and it was his form there that saw Brighton bring him to England last summer.
Marcos Alonso is keen on moving to the Camp Nou while Emerson Palmieri spent last season on loan at Lyon, meaning Ben Chilwell could feasibly be Thomas Tuchel’s only option at left wing-back should more recruits not arrive.
Cucurella, who is reported to have handed in a transfer request at the Amex Stadium, still has four years to go on his contract with Brighton but has previously admitted interest in a move elsewhere.
Speaking to Spanish outlet Jilantes in May, Cucurella said: “If the opportunity arises, you have to take advantage of it. There are teams that you can’t say no to.”
