Dele Alli Sets Targets For Spurs In New Season

Tottenham Hotspur’s Nigerian-born dazzler, Bamidele Alli has set high targets for the club this season, as he says they must build on the gains they got from a historic appearance in the UEFA Champions League and consolidate with better results this season.

While also noting that Spurs got a tremendous lift in the English Premier League last season, Alli confessed that they all felt the pain of losing to Liverpool in the UCL final but stressed that they must avoid any relapse of that setback, in order to get things right and do better this term.

Speaking ahead of the new season’s kick-off in the first weekend of August, the former Milton Keynes Dons midfielder added that Spurs have to aim for greater height this time out, and charged his pals to ensure they use their heartbreak to spur them towards better results.

While acknowledging that Tottenham lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the UCL final due to a lackluster performance, Alli enthused that that is now behind them and the team is already going in the right direction.

As they prepare for a new era and their first full season in their new stadium in London, Alli also opened up about his own injury frustrations last term, admitting it was mentally tough, but stressed that he is now coming back stronger and is ready to give his best ever for the team.

Alli said: “It was a difficult season for me and it was probably the most injuries I’ve ever had.

“It’s tough mentally as well as physically not playing and sitting on the sidelines when you want to be out there, helping the team.

“It was obviously a great campaign but reaching the Champions League final and losing it is heartbreaking.

“But we’ve got to try to use it as an advantage. You’ve got to move forward and try not to think about it too negatively; taking the positives from it and driving us on this season.

“We’ve got a young squad, who’ve been together a little while with the manager and we’re showing we’re heading in the right direction.”
