Swimming is not one of those sport Nigeria has strength in despite being surrounded by water, but all that may soon become a thing in the past as young Delta State swimming sensation, Clinton Opute dreams to break the jinx by being the first Nigerian swimmer to win an Olympic medal.
Opute who is notable for shattering his own personal national records, won an unbelievable 12 medals for Team Delta which includes 6 individual gold medals and Team gold in Relay to bring his gold haul to 7 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
The promising Swimmer who can be likened to Nigeria’s Michael Phleps, became the first Nigerian Swimmer to win medal for the country at the last All African Games.after more than 38 years of non medal by the Aquatic sport.
