Dessers makes UEFA Europa Conference League team of the season

Nigeria forward Cyriel Dessers has been named in the UEFA Europa Conference League Team of the Season.

Dessers played a key role in Feyenoord’s progress into the final of the competition where they lost 1-0 to Italian club AS Roma.

The 27-year-old finished as the competition’s top scorer with 10 goals from 12 games.

Four of his Feyenoord’s teammates were also included in the team of the competition.

Champions Roma have four players on the list including captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, Tammy Abraham, Rui Patricio and Chris Smalling.

Dessers joined Feyenoord on loan from Belgian Pro League outfit KRC Genk last summer.

Feyenoord are keen to sign him on a permanent deal.

He is in Nigeria’s squad for the friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.
