Dessers scores again as Rangers secure first win of the season against Motherwell

Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers extended his scoring run with a goal in Rangers’ 2-1 win over Motherwell on Saturday, securing Philippe Clement’s first victory as Rangers’ manager.

Dessers, who netted midweek in Rangers’ UEFA Champions League qualifying match against Dynamo Kiev, made his mark early at Ibrox.

The 29-year-old striker scored in the 15th minute, thanks to an assist from Mohammed Diomande.

Motherwell equalized just five minutes later when Robin Propper accidentally scored an own goal.

Rangers regained their advantage in the 24th minute through Vaclav Cerny, who was set up by James Tavernier. Cerny’s goal proved to be the decisive strike, securing the hard-earned victory for the home side.

Leon Balogun, Dessers’ compatriot and fellow Nigerian international, began the match on the bench. Balogun was brought on in the 77th minute, replacing Propper as Rangers looked to maintain their lead.

This victory provides a much-needed boost for Rangers as they continue their campaign, with Dessers showing promising form early in the season.
