Dutch Eredivisie: Ajax Coach Backs Super Eagles Defender

Ahead of the match day 17 of the Dutch Eredivisie, Ajax Amsterdam coach Alfred Schreuder has thrown his weight behind Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey.

Bassey joined the former European champions last summer after having a decent performance for the Scottish side Glasgow Rangers.

After having a decent outing for the Dutch earlier in the season, Bassey seem to have lost form and has been criticised by the club fans and stakeholders.

Ajax will be the guest of Feyenoord on Sunday and the coach has backed Bassey to come out good for the club.

“I understand the criticism, but because of his mentality and the way he deals with it, we are 100 percent convinced that he will soon be a very good player for us.

He may not become Frank de Boer. But a Davinson Sanchez, someone with power who can play in a big league”, he said.
