Eagles beat Cameroon 2-0 qualify for quarterfinals to face Angola

Super Eagles this evening in Ivory Coast defeated Cameroon 2-0 to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 34th AFCON.

The Eagles in a business minded approach had shot into the lead within 10 minutes of the match but the goal was disallowed. But in the 36th minute of the game Ademola Lookman after enjoying a timely assist from Victor Osimhen delivered the killer punch and most awaited goal for the Super Eagles.

The Jose Peseiro lead side maintained their lead till the 89th minute and it was all looking like the Eagles were going to settle for what has become their lone goal victory, but Ademola Lookman struck again in the 90th minute this time enjoying the assist of Calvin Bassey, thus sending the game beyond the reach of the Cameroonians.

This would be the 8th time both sides will be clashing with Nigeria now having four victories as against Cameroon’s three with a draw in between for both parties.

Nigeria will now face Angola in the quarterfinal. Palanca Negras of Angola had a tea party against Namibia cruising into the quarters with a 3-0 victory earlier today.
