Eaglets’ Skipper Promises Better Form Against Ecuador

Nigeria’s cadet national team, Golden Eaglets’ captain, Samson Tijani has promised that he and his colleagues will put up a better performance versus Ecuador on Tuesday, in their second match at this year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

After overcoming scary moments in their opening game against Hungary, which they eventually won 4-2, after going behind twice in the encounter at Estádio Olímpico, Goiânia, Tijani reeled out series of thank you messages and concluded with a pledge of a better show by the team on Tuesday.

The Collins Edwin SC of Lagos defensive midfielder, who exhibited immense leadership qualities all through the game, scored a penalty and a free-kick to lead by example in the opening Group B encounter, after which he praised his teammates for not giving up when the Hungarians went ahead twice.

While also thanking their fans and God for making Saturday’s win possible, Tijani, who was named man of the match, assured that the Eaglets will put in a better performance when they face Ecuador at same venue in their next game at the ongoing Cadet Mundial in Brazil.

Tijani added: ”I am really grateful for everything and I really thank all the players for putting their efforts in this game to come back and win the game; I really thank God for that.

“I thank God for everything. I thank the fans for supporting us. They should keep supporting us and I just believe with my teammates we are going to do better against Ecuador.”
