Edwin Kibet of Kenya Wins 2025 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

Kenyan athlete Edwin Koech emerged victorious in the men’s category of the 2025 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, which took place on Saturday.

Koech claimed the $50,000 first-place prize with a finishing time of 2 hours, 14 minutes, and 18 seconds.

This marks his second win in three years, having previously taken the gold in 2023.

The marathon saw about 37,000 participants across both the 10km and 42km races.

In the women’s category, Ethiopia’s Guta Meseret Hirpa crossed the finish line first, completing the race in 2 hours, 14 minutes, and 4 seconds to secure her first-ever women’s title in Lagos.

The 42km race started at the National Stadium in Surulere and concluded at the Eko Atlantic City in Victoria Island.
