EFCC Moves to Arraign Cubana Chief Priest for Naira Abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is gearing up to arraign popular Instagram celebrity Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos.

Cubana Chief Priest is facing a three-count charge for allegedly spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event, in violation of the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007. The charges were filed on April 4th by the EFCC’s prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) alongside seven other lawyers representing the Commission’s chairman.

In the charges, it was alleged that Cubana Chief Priest tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria during social events on various occasions, including in 2020 and 2024.

This development comes shortly after the EFCC arraigned controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, on similar charges, resulting in a six-month jail term.
