Efe Ambrose Looks To Repay Lampard’s Confidence

Derby County’s new signing Efe Ambrose is hoping to play a key part in the Rams’ quest for promotion this season.

The 30-year-old joined Derby on a short-term deal on Friday which runs until the end of the season, subject to international clearance, after becoming a free agent last month when he left Hibernian.

Ambrose has already revealed that he had offers from a number of foreign clubs prior to joining Derby.

Now the Nigerian international says he is looking to make an impact with the Rams, and repay the faith that manager Frank Lampard has shown in him.

“I know what it means to be in the top six and what it means to get a ticket to the Premier League,” Ambrose told RamsTV .

“I know the ambition what Frank Lampard wants for this club so for me, that is a motivation.

“Every player wants to make a mark and I want to do the best I can do to give back to the club. All I can do to make sure we are in the top six, the play-offs, or the coaches have said, automatic promotion, which is the best to put into the spirit of the players.

“We are aiming for the top two places to get the automatic ticket so once you put that in your head then it’s a challenge and it’s not impossible. In the Championship, everyone is equal to everyone.

“Anyone can beat anyone when you are at your best so for me I need to work hard, train hard and adapt quickly to help the team.

“I know it’s a busy time playing every weekend and that’s the challenge I like. It’s competitive football that I like so I don’t have a problem with that. I want to prove myself and make sure to repay his trust in me and that is why I’m here.”

I wonder if he can step up another level from the SPL to the Championship not many can and can you teach old dogs new tricks. We have better in the Academy.
