BIRTHDAY BOY Coach Stanley Eguma had every right to be a happy man after Rivers United played out a 0-0 draw against host Gombe United on Sunday in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

His Rivers United team remain at the top of the NPFL table after 18 matches, and Eguma was equally pleased with the way his team had performed in the draw.

Chijioke Akuneto, Nyima Nwagua and Ishaq Kayode all came close to scoring but it took the heroic of safe hands Sochima Victor to keep score at 0-0 after 90 minutes at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe ensuring the Pride of Rivers remain one point clear of Plateau United, who are Second.

“One good thing about the game is that today is my birthday. My players actually promised to give me a birthday gift by winning the game but we got a draw. I saw their effort today, they made frantic effort to win the game but a lot of scoring chances they missed especially in the first half, they would have rapped up the game.” Eguma stated.
