Nigeria’s track and field athlete Blessing Okagbare has descried the dearth of men of honour these days even as she eulogised her father as he turned 80.
Okagbare who is having a running battle with Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) following her recent 10 year ban from the sports the brought her fame and goodies prayed for better days for her father describing him and a good man.
Taking to her twitter handle Okagbare who is currently working with her team of lawyers to see the way out of the ban which many say may have put paid to her career on the tracks said “Happy 80th Birthday PA..
They sure don’t make men like you anymore. You are a good man/ father and I love you dearly. Thank you for being the good man and friend that you are. May the good Lord continue to keep you.🙏🏽 Happy Birthday Papa.❤️“
Okagbare whose desire to showcase her skills at the last Olympics in Japan hit the rocks following allegation of drug use,won a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics and boasts of multiple gold and Silver medals in the Commonwealth Games, All African Games, African Athletics Championships among other meets.
Her recent ban means the Delta born track queen will watching from the sidelines as championships come and go including the forthcoming Commonwealth Games this year in Birmingham.
