Amidst all the talks about Argentina international heading to Saudi Arabia and possible return to Barcelona,
Emiliano Martinez has boldly called on his Argentinian teammate, Lionel Messi, to join Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.
Messi’s future at PSG has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, given that his current contract expires this summer.
Despite having the option of extending his contract for another year, the Argentine superstar looks set to leave the Parc des Princes for free after turning down a contract extension.
His recent two-week suspension for taking a trip to Saudi Arabia will not have helped his fractured relationships in Paris and ultimately confirmed his summer exit.
There have been rumors that Messi will take his talents to Saudi Arabia when he leaves PSG, however, Argentina teammate Martinez has now thrown Villa’s hat in the ring.
In a recent interview with ESPN, Martinez was asked if Villa could sign the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. He replied: “If they whistle Messi, I would bring him here.. to Villa.”
‘Hey man, we drink mate, we eat asados every week. I will reduce my salary, we will do our best”.
The Villa keeper has referenced the teasing Messi received from PSG fans in his first game since serving a two-week suspension.
With his former club Barcelona pushing for a return to Spain for Messi, recent reports have claimed he has been offered a two-year deal worth £887m (£1bn). euros) in Saudi Arabia.
