Watford have confirmed Emmanuel Dennis will all undergo a late fitness test ahead of this weekend’s match against Newcastle United.
Dennis has not featured for the Hornets since he was substituted during the home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on new year day and missed the FA Cup tie away at Leicester City due to a knock.
Head coach Claudio Ranieri said after the game at the Foxes that he expected to have the striker back this weekend.
The Nigerian is the club’s top scorer so far this season with eight goals and has stayed with the Hornets this month, despite getting a call up to represent the Super Eagles at the African Cup of Nations.
Dernis is aiming to make his 20th appearance in all competitions since he joined from Belgian side, Club Brugge last summer.
He has featured 17 times in the Premier League and started 16 of the games. His eight goals and five assists have all come in the Premier League.
