Enabulele Celebrates Fortress Ladies Star, Mariam Yahaya, on FIFA U-17 World Cup Selection

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has congratulated Mariam Yahaya, a distinguished product of Fortress Ladies, on her inclusion in Nigeria’s final squad for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

In a statement released by his Media Officer, Mr. Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele expressed immense joy over the young footballer’s achievement, describing it as a testament to the success of Edo State’s grassroots sports development agenda under the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

He noted that Mariam’s journey from Fortress Ladies to representing Nigeria on the global stage reflects the state’s unwavering commitment to talent identification, nurturing, and empowerment of young athletes across all disciplines.

“Mariam Yahaya’s selection is not only a personal triumph but also a proud moment for Fortress Ladies, the Edo Sports family, and indeed the entire state. The Edo Sports Commission Chairman further reaffirmed the Commission’s resolve to continue creating opportunities for young athletes to excel through structured developmental programs, quality coaching, and enabling infrastructure.

“This milestone is only the beginning of a glorious journey ahead for Mariam and many others who will follow her footsteps. We remain committed to sustaining the structures that make such success stories possible,” he added.

Hon. Enabulele concluded by wishing the Nigeria U-17 Women’s National Team, the Flamingos, a successful outing at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
