EFL Championship clubs Sheffield United and Watford, along with Greek giants Panathinaikos, have emerged as the latest suitors for Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho, who is being pursued by several clubs ahead of the January transfer window’s close.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla in the summer as a free agent with high expectations but has struggled to make an impact at the club, despite his extensive experience in English top-flight football.
The 28-year-old forward has yet to score in nine La Liga appearances for Sevilla and has been excluded from their last four league matches. However, Iheanacho has shown his ability in the Copa del Rey, scoring three goals in just two appearances.
Meanwhile, Sheffield and Watford have reportedly created a path for the Super eagle’ forward to return to England via the championship route while Panathinaikos are said to have also opened discussions with the former Manchester City forward.
Sevilla will not be standing in the way of the Nigerian if he decides to leave, as he joined them on a free transfer. Leeds United are also one of the clubs that have shown interest in the Nigerian.
Iheanacho will be seeking a team where he will be able to clock good playing time and a league with visibility, as he sets sights on representing Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
