Enyeama Declares Continues Love For Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles’ goalkeeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama has disclosed that he retains fond memories of his days in the Nigerian national team and declared that he will forever be in love with the squad, because he cannot forget the good days he had with his colleagues.

Although Enyeama left the team and retired under acrimonious circumstances, after which the 36-year-old shot-stopper rebutted several efforts to woo him back, the ex-Lille Metropole of France as well as former Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel star says he remains loving Nigeria for life.

Enyeama surprisingly went on to state that he is again open to the idea of playing for Nigeria if he is called up by the coach, Gernot Rohr, despite having retired from international football in 2015 after a row with then handler of the side, Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh.

Top shots of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) put pressure on him about reversing his decision, but he stuck to his guns and stayed away from the national team, but he recently failed to bag a new deal with Sporting Dijon in the second division of France.

However, Enyeama has now taken to social media to reveal his deep emotions as well as strong thoughts about the Eagles and, amidst reports that he is close to sealing a deal as a free agent, he indicated that he is willing to represent Nigeria again, but admitted that young goalkeepers should be given the chance to showcase their talents.

Enyeama declared: “Nigeria is my country & I’m still ready to serve. If they want me to play & I am invited, I’ll still play & win games for the country. But it isn’t my priority. We have the young ones coming up – they should be given the opportunity to showcase what they’ve got.”
