Enyimba FC, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) powerhouse, has announced the dismissal of its head coach, Yemi Olanrewaju.
The club confirmed the news on Saturday via a social media post, expressing gratitude to the 32-year-old for his contributions and wishing him success in his future endeavors.
“Enyimba FC can confirm that it has parted ways with head coach Yemi Olanrewaju. The club thanks Coach Olanrewaju for his services and wishes him the best in his future endeavors,” the statement read.
Olanrewaju, who took charge seven months ago after the departure of Finidi George, leaves amid a tough period for the club. Enyimba is currently enduring a nine-match winless streak across all competitions, including six consecutive draws in the league.
Their struggles in the CAF Confederations Cup have left them bottom of Group D, with just one point from three matches.
The decision to part ways with Olanrewaju followed a disappointing 1-1 draw against Plateau United in the NPFL, just 48 hours earlier. Enyimba, the league’s most successful club, is currently 11th in the standings with 23 points from 15 matches.
In his tenure, Olanrewaju managed 26 games, securing nine wins and suffering seven losses. Despite previous roles as an assistant manager at Magate FC, MFM, and Vandrezzer, his spell at Enyimba failed to produce the results expected by the club.
