Aston Villa manager, Steven Gerrard has claimed Emmanuel Dennis was not fouled for the free-kick that led to Nottingham Forest’s goal against his side on Monday night.
Nottingham Forest was awarded a free-kick after Aston Villa centre-back, Tyrone Mings shoved Dennis to the ground.
Dennis nodded home from the resultant free-kick, his first Premier League goal for Steve Cooper’s side.
Aston Villa rallied back with veteran winger, Ashley Young firing home from 25 yards out seven minutes later.
Television images confirmed Dennis was fouled by Mings but Gerrard had a different opinion.
“It wasn’t a foul [for the free-kick leading up to the goal]. Tyrone Mings got a clear contact on the ball but saying that we still have to defend the set piece better, ” Gerrard told BBC after the game.
“It was a fantastic strike and it was one of a few moments of quality in the final third. Ashley [Young] is leading by example for us at the moment and we are really pleased with him.”
