EPL: Awoniyi on target in Nottingham Forest’s defeat to Arsenal

Taiwo Awoniyi came off the bench to register a goal as Nottingham Forest fell to a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Awoniyi recently returned to training following a knee injury and was included in the matchday squad after passing a late fitness test.

Hosts Arsenal scored twice in the first half through Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka.

Awoniyi replaced Danillo Oliviera in the 71st minute.

The striker reduced the deficit for Nottingham Forest eight minutes from time.

The 26-year-old slotted home after he was teed up by Anthony Elanga.

His international teammate, Ola Aina, started the game and was replaced by Neco Williams 18 minutes from time.

The other Nigerian at the club, Emmanuel Dennis, was not included in the matchday squad.
