Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has urged Southampton to “beat Liverpool 4-0” when both teams clash in a Premier League tie on Tuesday.
Guardiola made the plea after Man City failed to beat West Ham United on Sunday.
The Spaniard watched as his team got a point out of three points after playing a 2-2 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium.
Liverpool will fulfill their game in hand on Tuesday against Southampton and could close the gap to just the one point heading into a thrilling final day of the Premier League season.
But Guardiola hopes the Saints can instead deliver the title to him on a silver platter on Tuesday.
“Beat Liverpool 4-0!” Guardiola responded during his post-match press conference when asked what Southampton could do against his rivals Liverpool in midweek.
He added: “Against this Liverpool side, you cannot win the league four games ago. You have to fight until the end. The big privilege is that it is at home and it is in our hands.”
“I can assure you something. In one week, our stadium will be so loud and we will give them all our lives, and they will give us their lives for 95 minutes. It’s an incredible privilege to win one game at home to be champion.”
