Chelseaโs new owners said they โbelieved stronglyโ in a โworkplace environment that ensures employees feel safe, included, valued and trustedโ.
Chelseaโs new owners have appointed an โexternal review teamโ to investigate allegations of bullying at the club.
A New York Times article claimed conditions in one department led to โtoxic workplace cultureโ.
It said former employee Richard Bignell took his own life in January, with the coronerโs report linking it to โdespair following the loss of his jobโ.
Chelsea will now โinvestigate the allegations that have been made under previous ownershipโ.
In a statement, the clubโs board, who took over last month, added: โThe clubโs new board believes strongly in a workplace environment and corporate culture that empowers its employees and ensures they feel safe, included, valued and trusted.
โInitial steps have been taken by the new owners to instill an environment consistent with our values.โ
Bignell was described by the club as a โmuch-lovedโ and โvery popular and hugely respected member of the wider football and sports broadcasting familyโ.
The new board added: โOur heart goes out to Richardโs entire family. His passing has been deeply felt by his colleagues at the club and across the football community.
โUpon learning about the circumstances, [the] new ownership has proactively reached out to Richardโs family through their counsel.โ
