EPL: Chelsea open new contract talks with Tuchel

Chelsea have opened new contract talks with manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel stuck by Chelsea when the club’s existence was in doubt earlier this year, after former owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Sun says the new ownership group, led by American Todd Boehly have since come in and formed a good relationship with Tuchel, especially given the pair have been dealing with the summer transfer business together.

As a reward for his success and commitment, talks have already began about extending his contract by a further two years.

The new deal is expected to run until 2026, which shows huge faith from Boehly, given that only two managers have lasted more than two years since Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge at Stamford Bridge in 2004.
