Former Real Madrid midfielder, Rafael van der Vaart, has advised PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo not to join the Los Blancos but to choose between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Gakpo has been linked with a move to Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Tottenham in the past.
But Van der Vaart, who has played for Tottenham and Real Madrid in his career, wants Gakpo to join a club in England at this stage of his career.
While speaking on a program at the Voetbal International network, van der Vaart said: “If he goes, he has to go to Tottenham or Arsenal.
“A club a bit in between. If Real Madrid comes, I would say: ‘Don’t do it’.”
Gakpo has scored 12 goals and given 13 assists in 20 Eredivisie starts for PSV this season.
The 23-year-old’s versatility in attack would give Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta another valuable option if he decides to join the Gunners.
