EPL: Ex-England goalie James believes Lampard can transform Everton

Date:

Former England goalkeeper, David James, is convinced Frank Lampard can transform Everton.

James, speaking exclusively to the Liverpool Echo via Genting Casino, believes Lampard must use the belief his side showed in the closing weeks of the season as springboard to push on for better things next season.

He said: “Frank, right from the beginning said this is going to be a tough job, there was a slight difference in his post-match interview on Thursday, Frank’s face was a little bit happier than it had been.

“Frank was saying the same things and you believed what he was saying: ‘It is going to be difficult, but we knew this was the way it was going to be..

“There seemed to be a lot of people digging them from the sidelines saying they were going down, but he had belief in what he needed to do.

“All he had to do was survive. He did that in one way, in a blunt way, it is a tick box. He did what he was brought in to do. Now Frank Lampard has to get his stamp on what he wants next season.

“Like recruitment, letting players go, bringing players in, and getting a plan of where he sees Everton to be. But you would like to think that if Frank can get the team to do what he wants to do next season then he is capable of doing more than this season.”
