Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has admitted that Ajax manager, Erik Ten Hag, is the “massive favourite” to take over at Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
Neville, however, wants Mauricio Pochettino to take up the role.
Pochettino, as well as Ten Hag, are leading candidates to replace interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.
In a message posted on Twitter, Neville says he would choose PSG boss Pochettino, even if it isn’t the popular decision among the club’s supporters.
He wrote: “Personally I would go for Pochettino but Ten Hag is the massive favourite of United fans to take the club forward.
“That’s if it is a clear choice between the 2.”
Ten Hag was interviewed by United on Monday as the Premier League club stepped up their search to find the next permanent manager.
Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique are also expected to be interviewed for the role.
