EPL: Haaland became a burden – Dortmud’s ex-director on selling striker

Former Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, has described Erling Haaland as a liability who they just had to allow to leave the club.

Kehi said he was forced to sell the star player once he became a distraction and talking point in the dressing room.

Haaland was one of the more glamorous transfers of the past transfer window after the 21-year-old left the German side for Manchester City.

The Norwegian is already firing on all cylinders, with 10 goals in just six Premier League games.

“In the end, the issue of Haaland became a liability in the dressing room,” Kehl told Sport Bild.

“As much as we always wanted Haaland, in the end, he became a burden on the dressing room, the club and the whole environment. He had become the topic of all conversations.”

He said that the German club were happy for the 21-year-old that he continues to be successful in his first season in the Premier League.
