Paul Onuachu is determined to help Southampton maintain their Premier League status at the end of the season.
Onuachu linked up with the Saints from Belgian Pro League outfit, KRC Genk on deadline day.
The 28-year-old made his debut in the 3-0 defeat at Brentford at the weekend.
The Nigeria international replaced Mohamed Elyounoussi after the break and make positive impact in the game despite his side’s defeat.
Southampton occupy bottom spot on the table and face a tough fight to avoid relegation but Onuachu insists he can help the South Coast club move up on the log.
“I’m very motivated, it’s a huge challenge,” he told the club’s official website.
“Coming here we are last on the table and everybody is working to really try to leave the relegation zone.
“It’s a huge challenge, not just for me but for everybody in the team. I’m going to give it all if I have the chance to play, and try to help the team to survive.”
Nathan Jones’ side will host Wolverhampton Wanders in their next league game on Saturday.
